Projects and media

Keep media and editing data together so you can return, back up, and move your work.

01Use a dedicated project folder

Prepare one folder for a creative task and add the videos, images, and audio it needs. Opening it in OriginCut discovers media and creates project data.

Subfolders such as footage, images, and audio help organize larger projects. Use descriptive filenames rather than many indistinguishable final versions.

02Allow media to become ready

Discovery, media preparation, and content analysis take time, especially for large files or a first run. Begin with a small set and follow the status shown by the app.

Seeing a file does not mean every analysis has finished. Ask the Agent for dialogue, visuals, or text when that information is needed.

Try asking

Find the shots where espresso starts flowing into the cup and suggest usable time ranges.

03Add files to a request

  1. Select the current project first.
  2. Type @ to choose project content, or drag or paste a file into the composer.
  3. Explain its role: main footage, a style reference, music, or something to inspect only.

04Save, back up, and move

Edits are recorded in project data while original media and timeline relationships remain distinct. Back up the media and project files together, including the hidden .origincut directory.

Close the project in the app before moving the whole folder, then reopen it at the new location. Avoid editing internal .origincut files or moving active source media during a session.
